New Delhi: Govinda announces comeback with two films, says he has always believed in surprising people. Actor Govinda is gearing up for a new innings in cinema, announcing that he will produce two films, Duniyadari and Roopa, both of which are expected to go on the floors in September this year. He announced his comeback with two new films in a press conference in Mumbai. Along with the announcement, he also unveiled the first poster of his upcoming film, Roopa.
Govinda on his carrer setbacks
Speaking about his return, the actor said he has often been written off but has never stopped believing in his ability to reinvent himself.
“I’ve constantly done what others thought impossible,” Govinda said. “Few ever expected Govind to become Govinda. But I did. Hardly anyone would have believed that I could keep going for so many years without any planning. But I did.”
Reflecting on the highs and lows of his career, he added, “There were times when the lights were turned off on me—when people believed my career was over and that I would never return to films. Yet I began again.”
“There have been many conversations, actions, deeds and chapters in my life that have established themselves in different ways across the world. “I don’t interfere because I truly believe they are being led by a divine force. Instead, I move along with life’s illusion (maya), while remaining grateful for the livelihood that has sustained me year after year,” he said.
Explaining the vision behind his new films, Govinda said he wants to create stories that leave a lasting impact on audiences.
“With that sense of gratitude and respect, I felt I should create a film in such a way that people would never say, ‘It was just like a family of birds. They came, flew away, and the story ended.’”
He said the films are aimed particularly at younger audiences. “This film is especially for the younger generation. When they watch it in a theatre, I want them to feel as though they are witnessing a dream come true, and to ask themselves, ‘Is something like this really possible?’”
Govinda on his son Yashvardhan
Govinda also spoke warmly about his son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, who is expected to make his acting debut. Praising his abilities, he said, “Technically, he is too good. I’ve seen his work. As an actor, as a dancer, as a fighter, and just as a personality… he is better than me. He really is.”
The actor also revealed that he will introduce newcomer Rani Swarnkar and plans to cast actors from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. He said the decision is a personal one, noting that his mother hailed from Uttar Pradesh.
