Ayodhya: The Yogi Government is undertaking a major initiative to enhance convenience for devotees of Lord Ram visiting Ayodhya. To ensure Smooth traffic movement and Provide an efficient vehicle Parking System, A Puzzle-type mechanized car Parking facility with a capacity of 474 cars is being developed. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, construction of the mechanized Smart Parking near the Ram Temple in the Ramkot and Katra areas is Progressing Rapidly. The Project is Scheduled for Completion by December 20, 2026.
The Project has a total approved cost of Rs 65.04 crore and is being executed by the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (Construction Division-2). In addition to the Parking facility, Several supporting amenities are also being developed across the Basement, Ground and First Floor levels. These include two dormitories (B+G+1), 13 Shopping Complexes (G+1), one Public toilet, two Security Cabins, one Pump Room, one underground water Reservoir for fire-fighting and domestic use and one Office.
The Smart Parking facility will not only address Parking Challenges but will also Provide modern amenities to enhance the overall experience of Pilgrims and Tourists.
Construction began on June 21, 2025. According to Umesh Chandra, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department (Construction Division-2), around 57 Percent of the Project has been Completed. Ongoing work includes civil Structures, retaining walls, brickwork, basement construction, water tanks, Shop finishing and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) Installations.
Parking has long been a major Challenge for the lakhs of devotees visiting the Ram Temple. Once completed, the smart Parking facility will Significantly Improve traffic management. The mechanized system will enable more vehicles to be Parked within a Smaller area, Substantially reducing traffic congestion on surrounding Roads.
The Project Goes beyond Parking by incorporating multiple Public Amenities.
The dormitories will Provide resting facilities for tired Pilgrims. The Shopping complexes will house Stores Selling local Products, Prasad and Religious items, thereby Promoting the local Economy. Public toilets, Security Cabins and modern fire Safety Systems will further ensure the Safety and convenience of Visitors.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has consistently worked towards transforming Ayodhya into a world-Class religious tourism Destination.
Following the construction of the Ram Temple, special emphasis is now being Placed on Strengthening the City infrastructure, with the Smart Parking Project Serving as a Significant Step in that direction.
The Project will not only improve traffic management but also reinforce Ayodhya image as a modern, Well-Equipped and Visitor-friendly Pilgrimage Destination.
During construction, it is Generating benefits for Workers, Contractors and suppliers. Upon completion, it is also expected to create new employment opportunities, Particularly in the Shopping complexes and Security-Related Services.
The new Parking facility will allow devotees to reach the Ram Temple without inconvenience. After Parking their Vehicles, Visitors will be able to access the temple easily on foot or through Shuttle services. This will also improve crowd management in the temple Area.
This is Ayodhya first major mechanized Smart Parking Project. If Successful, Similar facilities may be developed in other Parts of the City.
The Government objective is to establish Ayodhya not only as a Global Spiritual centre but also as one of the world most convenient and well-equipped Religious tourism Destinations.
