Sachin Malik: Uttar Pradesh Minister for Urban Development and Energy, A.K. Sharma, addressed A Press conference today highlighting the State historic achievements in the Power Sector and the Government Welfare-Oriented Initiatives. He Stated that Uttar Pradesh offers among the lowest Electricity tariffs in the country While Providing one of the highest and most reliable levels of Power Supply Nationwide.
The Minister said that the State Government objective is to ensure affordable, high-Quality, and uninterrupted Electricity for every Consumer. He announced that Electricity tariffs have remained unchanged in Uttar Pradesh for the Seventh consecutive Year. The existing tariff Structure has been retained for all categories of consumers, reflecting the Government commitment to the welfare of the Poor, farmers, Domestic Consumers and other Electricity Users.
Sharma further informed that, to Promote Electric vehicle (EV) Pulblic Charging Infrastructure and encourage maximum Utilization of low-cost Solar energy available during daytime, a 20 Percent tariff discount has been introduced during designated Solar Hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 PM. This initiative is expected to boost EV Charging While encouraging the use of Clean and Green energy, making a Significant contribution to environmental Conservation.
The Energy Minister noted that Uttar Pradesh continues to set new benchmarks in Electricity Supply. The State has successfully met a record Peak Power demand of 32,673 MW, Establishing a new national milestone in Power Distribution.
He Pointed out that under Previous Governments, thermal Power Generation in the State was limited to around 5180 MW, Whereas today the State Generates even more Power through Solar energy alone. He added that Solar Parks with a combined capacity of approximately 4,000 MW are under development, While an additional 2,500 MW capacity is being developed under the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Yojana. Simultaneously, thermal Power Projects in Mirzapur, Meja and other locations are Progressing rapidly and the Efficiency of existing thermal Power Plants has been Significantly Improved. Plant Load Factor (PLF), Which Previously Stood at around 65 Percent, has now increased to approximately 85 Percent.
Concluding the Press conference, A.K. Sharma Said that Uttar Pradesh achievements in the energy Sector are the result of the Guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the capable leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He expressed confidence that the State would continue to move rapidly towards energy Self-Reliance and further Strengthen its Position as a model for the rest of the Country.
