Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, the Namit Malhotra-backed epic is gearing up for a worldwide Diwali 2026 release, and the excitement surrounding it is at an all-time high. Fans have been eagerly waiting for an update or a glimpse since the first teaser dropped in April. Amid the anticipation, a blurry video claiming to be a snippet from the highly anticipated trailer has gone viral on social media. A user shared the clip, alleging it was a leaked glimpse from the upcoming film. However, here’s what we know.

The viral clip features a man dressed in traditional attire, wielding a bow and arrow while battling a monstrous cloud-like creature. Although his face isn’t clearly visible, his physique, stance, and overall appearance prompted many fans to speculate that it was Ranbir portraying Lord Ram in Ramayana.
The caption of the viral post reads, “Welcome to the #Ramayana Trailer Month: JULY… trailer, posters, interviews. Global recognition for Indian Cinema and a leaked trailer snippet of the TRAILER from cinema con.”

However, many users quickly debunked the claim and pointed out that the clip was AI-generated. One user even shared the original sequence, which is reportedly from another show, dismissing rumours that it featured Ranbir Kapoor or was a leaked scene from Ramayana.

Recently, Ramayana actor Ravi Dubey urged audiences to place their trust in the makers and remain patient amid growing excitement surrounding the project. For those unversed, he portrays Lakshman in the film.
Based on the Valmiki Ramayana, Nitesh is set to present the epic saga in two parts, with the first instalment scheduled for release on October 30, 2026.
Ranbir will portray Lord Ram, while Yash takes on the role of Ravan and Sai Pallavi appears as Goddess Sita. The ensemble cast also includes Sunny Deol, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan, Aadinath Kothare, Faisal Malik, and several others in key roles.
The film’s music is composed by Academy Award winners AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, while visual effects are being handled by the eight-time Oscar-winning studio DNEG.
Ramayana is reportedly the most expensive Indian film ever made, with an estimated budget ranging between Rs 835 crore and Rs 2,100 crore.
