Ayodhya: Samajwadi Party leader and former minister Tej Narayan Pandey “Pawan” addressed a Press conference at the Shane Awadh Auditorium on Monday, making Serious allegations against the Government and the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust over the alleged Ram Temple donation Case.
Pandey Claimed that although cash was reportedly recovered from accused Avinash Shukla on June 5, no immediate First Information Report (FIR) was registered. He Questioned why legal action was delayed despite the Trust allegedly becoming aware of the irregularities on the same day. According to him, both the Government and the Trust are attempting to suppress the matter and mislead the Public.
He said the entire episode raises several serious Questions that remain unanswered. He also criticized the Special Investigation Team (SIT) Probe, describing it as a mere formality and expressing little confidence that it would Produce any meaningful outcome. He argued that only a transparent and impartial investigation could reveal the Truth.
Pandey further alleged that Champat Rai took an idol and Jewellery from a temple in Ayodhya without issuing any receipt. He Stated that the Ram Temple is a symbol of faith for millions of devotees and therefore the Complete truth behind the matter must be brought before the Nation.
Demanding accountability from the Government, he Said that those allegedly involved in illegally occupying temples and temple land in the name of Lord Ram, as well as those accused of alleged irregularities or theft involving donations, ornaments and offerings made by devotees, Should face an impartial investigation. He urged the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of the matter, remove those responsible from their Positions and ensure complete transparency, accountability and Public trust through a new administrative framework for the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.
During the Press conference, Pandey remarked, “Mahmud of Ghazni looted 17 times, but these People looted 72 times in just 40 days. The Trust members have even broken Ghazni record.” He Questioned the absence of the Trust treasurer, asking Why no immediate meeting was convened after the alleged recovery of money from a Person responsible for counting temple donations on June 5.
He further Claimed that a letter issued by the treasurer three days earlier carried neither a Signature nor an official seal, Yet Stated that the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra had been received and would be considered on the 11th. According to Pandey, such a serious incident warranted an immediate meeting of the Trust.
He also alleged that People were asking how temple Stones, the crown and other ornaments associated with Lord Ram could have allegedly Gone missing. He said devotees Who donated as little as one rupee or as much as several crores were equally distressed by the allegations concerning the handling of temple Offerings.
Concluding his remarks, Pandey alleged that the Government and the Trust were acting in collusion and that the constitution of the SIT was merely an attempt to mislead the Public rather than ensure Justice.
