Sachin Malik: Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh will undertake an extensive field tour from July 15 to July 25 to assess the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission and ensure that Villages are receiving tap water supply as Per Prescribed Standards.
The decision was announced during a departmental review meeting held on Monday. The minister said the inspections are aimed at verifying the actual Status of rural water supply Schemes and Checking the Quality of drinking water being delivered to Households.
Additional Chief Secretary, Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department, Anurag Srivastava, along with senior departmental officials, will accompany the minister. The team will interact with residents and evaluate the Performance of water supply Projects on the Ground.
The Minister and officials will also Stay overnight in villages and seek direct feedback from local communities regarding water availability and service delivery. Jal Arpan Programmes will be organized in several Villages during the Visits.
District-Wise Tour Schedule
On July 15 and 16, the minister will visit villages in Lalitpur, Jhansi and Jalaun districts. The next Phase of the tour will take Place on July 18 and 19, covering Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra districts. On July 24, the minister will Participate in a Sant Samvad in Mathura to discuss the conservation and Cleaning of the Yamuna River. Religious leaders will be invited to Share their views and suggestions on river restoration efforts.
Residents of villages located along the Yamuna will also be included in the dialogue. The Programme will focus on creating awareness about river conservation and encouraging community Participation in Cleanliness efforts. Following the event, the department Plans to launch a Public awareness campaign in Yamuna-belt Villages to Promote River-Cleaning Initiatives.
Action against officials for water supply lapses
Reviewing the Progress of drinking water and Sanitation Projects at the State Water and Sanitation Mission headquarters, the minister warned that Strict action would be taken against Chief engineers and superintending engineers if complaints regarding water supply emerge from any District.
He directed all Chief engineers to Personally monitor ongoing Projects, conduct regular reviews, and ensure accountability at every Stage so that rural households receive a reliable supply of Clean drinking water through Taps.
Chief Engineers asked to organise Jal Arpan Events
The Minister also Instructed Chief Engineers across the State to organize Jal Arpan Programmes in villages under their Jurisdiction. These events will focus on formally handing over water supply systems to communities While Promoting awareness about water conservation, efficient usage and sustainable management of water Resources.
