New Delhi: Around 6 lakh candidates who appeared for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Prelims Exam 2026 are awaiting their results. Those who clear the exam will next be called for the mains written exams followed by an interview.
While the exact date and time of the UPSC prelims result has not been officially announced, it is expected to be announced anytime this week. Last year, the results were out on June 11. Once published, candidates will be able to check a PDF list of qualified candidates using their roll numbers on the official websites, upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in.
Candidates securing marks above the Prelims cut-off will be eligible to appear directly for the UPSC Civil Services Mains Examination, scheduled to commence on August 21, 2026. Qualified candidates will be required to fill out the Detailed Application Form (DAF-1) and start dedicated preparation, with a strong focus on answer writing.
Out of the total 933 posts announced for this year, the reservation break-up is as follows: Unreserved (UR) category has 397 posts, Other Backward Classes (OBC) has 243 posts, Scheduled Caste (SC) has 133 posts, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) has 88 posts, and Scheduled Tribe (ST) has 72 posts.
Past-Year Trends
To check the expected date of UPSC prelims results, candidates can check the previous year result dates. Last year, the exam was conducted on May 25, and the result was declared on June 11. This year too, the merit list is expected to be out by mid-June. While in 2024, the exam took place on June 16, and the result was released on July 1.
