Sachin Malik: Uttar Pradesh has achieved another historic Milestone in the Solar and renewable energy sector, establishing itself as a national leader in Clean energy development. The State has been Selected to receive the PM Surya Ghar Excellence Award at the national event titled “Two Years of PM Surya Ghar: Expanding Solar Energy to One Crore Rooftops,” organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, in New Delhi.
Expressing his delight over the achievement, Energy and Urban Development Minister A.K. Sharma Stated that the honor is the result of continuous efforts made by the State government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He said that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a leading model for renewable energy development in the country and is rapidly Progressing towards Energy Self-Reliance.
The minister informed that under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the State has received more than 991,000 applications, against which over 557,000 rooftop solar systems have already been installed. These installations have benefited more than 564,000 families, while the State has developed over 1888 MW of rooftop Solar capacity. Beneficiaries have received more than ₹3,602 crore in central subsidies and over ₹1,200 crore in additional State Subsidies.
He further Stated that Uttar Pradesh is the first State in India to develop a PM Surya Ghar Stakeholders Monitoring State Dashboard, ensuring real-time monitoring and transparent implementation of the Scheme. At Present, nearly 2,000 rooftop solar installations are being completed daily and with more than 6,000 registered vendors, Uttar Pradesh holds a leading Position in the sector nationwide. He added that Lucknow has become the first district in the country to cross the landmark figure of 100,000 rooftop Solar installations under the Scheme.
According to Minister Sharma, the solar energy market in Uttar Pradesh has expanded to approximately ₹36–40 crore Per day, generating more than 70,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. Additionally, Solar capacity of 247 MW has been installed on 9200 government buildings, around 900 MW under the Jal Jeevan Mission and 220 MW across 691 commercial and industrial Establishments.
The minister emphasized that Uttar Pradesh is not only leading in solar energy but is also Playing a Pioneering role in other renewable energy initiatives. In the Compressed Biogas (CBG) sector, the State ranks first in the country with 38 Plants and a Production capacity of 284 tonnes Per day. Under the PM-KUSUM C-1 Scheme, 7821 Plants have been installed, Providing farmers with Clean and affordable energy Solutions.
Congratulating UPNEDA, the Energy Department, electricity distribution corporations, regional officials, employees and all Stakeholders, Minister A.K. Sharma said that Uttar Pradesh remains fully committed to advancing green energy, ensuring energy Security and realizing the vision of a developed India. He expressed confidence that the State will continue to set new national benchmarks in renewable energy and Play a Significant role in making India energy Self-Reliant.
