New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) locked horns in a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match on April 5 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The game turned out to be an intense contest between two of the league’s biggest rivals. Fans from both sides packed the stadium and created a loud atmosphere.
RCB delivered a dominant batting performance. They posted a huge total of 250/3 in 20 overs. Tim David played a stunning knock and remained unbeaten on 70 runs from just 25 balls. Captain Rajat Patidar supported him well in the final overs. Earlier, Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt gave a solid start.
In reply, CSK tried to chase the big target but lost early wickets. Sarfaraz Khan scored a fighting fifty. Jamie Overton and Prashant Veer added useful runs. However, RCB bowlers held their nerve. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 3 key wickets. CSK were all out for 207 in 19.4 overs, losing the match by 43 runs.
CSK files complaint with BCCI over stadium conduct
After the match, CSK officially filed a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The complaint was related to a particular incident that took place during the game in Bengaluru.
CSK management raised concerns about the behavior inside the stadium. They pointed at the role of the match-day DJ and the song “Dosa-idli sambhar chutney chutney”, which was played during the game. According to the franchise, this action crossed the expected limits of professionalism during an IPL match.
CSK Managing Director Kasi Viswanathan confirmed to Indian Express that the franchise has written to the BCCI. He said that stadium entertainment should support the home team but should not target opposition players or fans. The franchise believes that such actions can create unnecessary tension between teams and supporters. The issue is not entirely new. Similar incidents were reported in past CSK-RCB matches when the home crowd supported their team. Both teams share a strong rivalry in the IPL. Recent results have added more intensity, with RCB winning several matches against CSK.
The BCCI is expected to review the complaint and take appropriate action. For now, the focus remains on maintaining respect along with sportsmanship in future matches.
