A Review Meeting of the Urban Development and Energy Departments was held at Sangam Auditorium in Lucknow under the Chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister, A.K Sharma, as Part of efforts to realize the goal of making Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion Economy. Separate Meetings of both Departments were conducted, with senior officials participating and holding detailed discussions on strategic Points to achieve the Target.
In the Urban Development Department meeting, Principal Secretary P. Guru Prasad, Secretary/Director Anuj Jha, Special Secretary Praveen Lakshkar and other officials were Present. In the Energy Department review, Additional Chief Secretary Narendra Bhushan, Managing Director of UPPCL Pankaj Kumar, along with other Departmental Officials, Took Part.
During the meeting, detailed Presentations were made on the role and Potential of both departments in achieving the $1 trillion economy target. Special emphasis was laid on strengthening urban infrastructure, expanding modern urban amenities, ensuring uninterrupted and quality Power supply, increasing energy efficiency and attracting investment through concrete Strategies.
In his address, Minister A.K Sharma Stated that the Urban Development and Energy Departments are two strong Pillars of the State economic Progress. He emphasized that robust and transparent urban services along with reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply would accelerate industry, trade and the service sector, thereby strengthening the state economy. He directed officials to prepare goal-oriented action Plans and implement them in a time-bound and result-driven manner on the Ground.
The minister also stressed strengthening inter-departmental Coordination, regular monitoring of Progress, and working with a spirit of Good Governance.
During discussions on the renewable energy sector, the Minister highlighted the valuation of electricity generated under the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Yojana and the Prime Minister Kusum Yojana. He Pointed out that the Electricity Produced under these schemes is not being included in the consolidated data of the Energy Department, which Prevents the State actual achievements from being reflected. To address this issue, he directed officials to write to the Government of India. He stated that renewable energy is a crucial Pillar of the State energy self-reliance and economic growth and therefore accurate valuation and accounting of every unit generated must be Ensured.
Additional Chief Secretary Narendra Bhushan said that the PM Surya Ghar Yojana is one of the State biggest Strengths.
However, the lack of proper valuation of the electricity generated under this scheme in the department data directly affects the state progress and achievements. He added that it is necessary to study the experiences of other states and engage in detailed discussions with the central government to ensure proper assessment of renewable energy Production.
