Wedding of Jyoti, a girl from an extremely economically weak family, solemnized an example of social sensitivity.
Lucknow: Under the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme, 124 couples held hands and entered into matrimony today at the district headquarters located in the Collectorate premises. On this occasion, the Chief Guest, Cabinet Minister A.K. Sharma inaugurated the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp and blessed the couples while also presenting them with gifts. In his address, the Chief Guest informed the public about the various schemes being run by the Central and State Governments and stated that the main objective of the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme is to help poor boys and girls of the state get married so they can begin their household life in a better way.
During the event, Minister Sharma mentioned a girl named Jyoti from the Doharighat development block, who was benefiting from this scheme. He said that when he came to know that she was extremely weak financially, he instructed the district administration to ensure she received the benefits of the scheme. Expressing his happiness, he said that not only Jyoti but many other poor sons and daughters across the district were being married under this initiative.
The Energy Minister said that earlier and even today, people often consider the marriage of daughters a burden and many fall into debt due to the expenses involved. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath the present government has taken the responsibility of ensuring the marriage of poor daughters in the state and is fulfilling it. Previously, the government spent ₹51,000 per couple, but as per the Chief Minister directions, this amount has now been increased to ₹1,00,000 per couple, ensuring that newly married couples can begin their married life happily.
On this occasion, District Panchayat President Manoj Rai, BJP District President Ramashray Maurya, District Magistrate Praveen Mishra, Chief Development Officer Prashant Nagar, District Social Welfare Officer Anuj Kumar, along with many other district-level officials and BJP office bearers, were present.
