New Delhi: A Toronto-Delhi Air India flight on Thursday, November 13, received a bomb threat, sources told Times Now. The BTAC (Bomb Threat Assessment Committee) was immediately convened. This is the second Air India flight to receive a threat in 2 days; yesterday it was Air India Express.
“At 11:30 hrs, Delhi Police SHO T3 received a threat mail claiming a blast on Air India flight AI-188 (Toronto Delhi Flight). Threat classified as Non-Specific after assessment. CISF and all airport stakeholders were instructed to enhance security measures,” said officials.
An Air India Spokesperson said that a security alert was received on Air India flight AI188 during its cruise from Toronto to Delhi on 13 November.
“On board crew carried out all the laid down security drills, keeping passenger safety & security as top priority. The flight has landed safely at Delhi and has been parked for the mandatory security checks by the security as per the protocol. All passengers and crew have disembarked safely. At Air India, the safety and security of our passengers and crew remain top priority,” the spokesperson added.
IndiGo Bomb Threat
Earlier on Wednesday, the IndiGo airline received a bomb threat email, putting several major airports on high alert. The email came around 3:40 pm – 3:45 pm, alerting key international airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad.
A Bomb Threat Assessment Committee is currently probing the email. Moreover, the bomb threat has been declared a hoax. The Indigo sources confirmed that the email was received by them, following which they informed the relevant authorities.
Mumbai-Varanasi Air India Flight Receives Bomb Threat
Meanwhile, Air India Express Flight from Mumbai to Varanasi also received a bomb threat on Wednesday. A high alert was raised at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport after an Air India Express flight from Mumbai to Varanasi reportedly received a bomb threat mid-air.
The aircraft safely made an emergency landing and has been moved to an isolation bay for a thorough security inspection. All passengers have been evacuated safely, and a bomb disposal squad is on-site.
